Hideous (Wo)men

Imitation of life.

Hideous (wo)men is a live created soap that stretches the limits by experimenting with the concept and illusion of personal autonomy, in collaboration with director Susanne Kennedy. A radical theatrical installation with hyperreallistic characters with latex masks on a turning stage; the desert of the real.

Hideos (wo)man is part of The Visual Statements-series (2011-2014). Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot question the dominant image culture of today’s spectacle society. They expose mediatized representation and its claim to reality. In doing so, they play with the double bind of alienation.
