Grief ceremonies during WOMBTOMBS

During WOMBTOMBS, visitors can participate in grief- and swaddling rituals. As part of this exhibition, Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot and Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti developed several rituals, inspired by ancient technologies of grief, in which the visitor is not only the spectator but also a co-creator of the WOMBTOMBS temple. Hidden in the landscape of WOMBTOMBS you will find shelters where you can practice, like a hummingbird, to move in stillness. Underneath these shelters you can listen to various shape-shifting meditations.

On Sundays, you can participate in a communal mourning ritual guided by Ibelisse. Also at MU, swaddling rituals are organized for children from local schools. You can find their grief reports and swaddle amulets in the swaddle room.
